Bruce is Forest Management Director (FMD) for South Forest District. 

In the New Forest Bruce carries an additional title of Deputy Surveyor. Bruce studied Forestry at university and has been with the Forestry Commission all his working life starting in 1979. He has worked his way up through the organisation moving to become FMD in South in 2014.
