- Walks and talks start at Jeskyns cafe
Come and join us for Jeskyns BioBlitz!
A free fun packed 2 days suitable for all ages on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 August 2022.
At this great outdoor family event expert naturalists and members of the public work together to carry out a fast and intensive survey of all forms of life at Jeskyns.
Help us race to find as many different species of plants, birds, insects, mammals, fish, and everything else possible in 48 hours!
Be a citizen scientist
Learn how to find and identify the wildlife on your doorstep through our expert lead walks, from wild flower walks and bug hunting to bat detecting and bird ringing.
Everything we find during the BioBlitz will create a 'species record' which feeds into national databases that monitor our wildlife - citizen science in action!
Timetable of events for both days
| 9am | A guided bird walk with North West Kent Countryside Partnership (NWKCP) |
| 10am | A talk from Bird Wise about coastal birds on the Medway / Join our ecologists for a guided dragonfly and butterfly walk |
| 11am | Hunt for mini-beasts on a guided invertebrates walk with NWKCP |
| 12pm | A guided bird walk with Bird Wise |
| 1pm | Get to know the work of NWKCP in this talk |
| 2pm | Nature table activity with NWKCP / Learn about the work of Bird Wise |
| 3pm | Learn about dormice and small mammals with our ecologist |
| 7.30pm | Discover the bats and other nocturnal creatures of Jeskyns in this special evening walk |
There is something for everyone at a BioBlitz and no expertise is necessary!
