Forestry 100 Running Series - Forest of Dean 10k
Celebrate 100 years of forestry with an exhilarating 10k around the Forest of Dean.
Hidden in the heart of the Forest of Dean, Mallards Pike Lake sits steeped in history and nature.
The trails undulate their way through the forest on a mix of hard stone paths, forest tracks and odd single-track section. With varying height elevations you’ll see the forest from a number of different view-points; look up to the conifers providing an alpine back drop to the lake, breath in the splendour as you pass Spruce Ride and Speech House Walk avenues; marvel at the mystique of the undisturbed broadleaves as you snake your way through on single track, and be sure to keep an eye out as you head back along the expanse of shrub and mixed woodland that’s sheltering an abundance of wildlife including deer, wild boar and birds of prey.
Starting at Mallards Pike Lake, this 10km takes in some of the best bits of that the forest network, with a few longer, open stretches; directional changes and a gradual climb through the first half of the route.
