Be a forest runner and join us in our new running series across the nation’s forests this autumn.
Whether you are a 5k Forest Runner or a 10k Forest Runner, choose your challenge and enjoy a run in some beautiful surroundings.
Taking place in England's only mountain forest, you're guaranteed a very hilly 10k, with over 1400 feet of elevation. This challenging 10k route presents some very testing climbs and you’ll soon warm up as you take in the first climb, up towards Beckstones. As you round the corner, a spectacular view emerges of Derwentwater, Keswick and the Skiddaw mountain range. Enjoy the long and flowing descent as you’ll be climbing again soon, passing Hallgarth ponds, to meet the bridleway.
The next section is long and steep with a hardcore climb taking you to the summit of Seat How. At this point you should take a moment to pause and take in the magnificent views of the Lake District. From Seat How, the route takes you through a mixture of Scots pine and Sitka spruce ending with a final descent as you make your way back to the towards the visitor centre for a well-earned rest!
Whinlatter is a working forest, as such the routes may be subject to small changes.
