About the route

The wellbeing trail will follow our red walking trail, Henry's Hike. This circular walk takes you across the central plateau of the hill taking in views of the Wrekin to the east.

The trail is 2.5km (1.5 miles) and starts/ends from the car park. There are some sections which are rocky and uneven and can get muddy especially after rain.

This trail is supported by Sport England using National Lottery funding.

Follow the yellow waymarkers along this surfaced trail through mixed woodland with frequent benches.  Visitors with wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies should find this walk suitable.

This trail is also home to our family activity trail, which changes theme each year.

The trail is named after the Corbett Family, who were the owners of Sundorne Estate from the late 1700s to the 1950s. They once owned Haughmond Hill, the Abbey and much of the surrounding land.

Enjoy a tasty treat in the forest at one of our beautiful picnic areas, just bring along good food and company!

There are numerous picnic tables around the cafe area. To help dog owners enjoy a hands-free experience, we have individual dog clips attached to all our benches for you to clip your dog lead to.

Alternatively, why not take a picnic to one of our various viewpoints and enjoy lunch with a view.

To prevent forest fires and reduce waste, please do not bring any barbecues into our forests and take all your litter home.

Come and escape in Mortimer Forest! Straddling the Shropshire and Herefordshire border this thousand hectare forest is a perfect place for some breathing space.

Although originally made up of ancient royal chases and deer parks, the forest we see today was largely planted by the Forestry Commission in the 1920s. It was named after the Mortimer Family, Norman Lords who held power over the region for some 300 years.

Easy pacers walkers

Eastridge Woods is enjoyed by visitors on foot, on horseback or on two wheels. Passing through the forest is the Shropshire Way, a long distance walking route covering over 200 miles of beautiful Shropshire countryside, which can be tackled in smaller sections.
