With an abundance of wildlife and rich woodland, there is so much for you to see and explore at Maulden Wood

Set on the Greensands Ridge, Maulden Wood is a beautiful varied woodland located near Clophill. The woodland contains one of the largest and most important remnants of ancient woodland in Bedfordshire. Both the grasslands in the centre of the wood and the northern end of the wood are designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

Maulden Wood can be explored on foot, bike and horse back! It’s abundance of birdlife, spring flowers and unique butterflies make it ideal for the wildlife enthusiasts!

Cycling is a fantastic way to explore Maulden Wood and soak up the beautiful scenery.

Cyclists are welcome on the surfaced gravel tracks. Mountain bikers are asked to use the specialist facilities at nearby Rowney Warren Wood.

Whilst there are no waymarked horse riding routes, horse riders are welcome to explore our network of forest roads and bridleways. 

Horse riding is permitted on the public bridleways and waymarked horse trails only. Other rides and paths should not be used. Further information can be found at the information panel at the entrance off the layby. 

You do not need a permit to ride at Maulden Wood.

Picnic benches can be found at the end of the Faith Woodland trail.

To prevent forest fires and reduce waste, please do not bring any barbecues into our forests.

Following a recent tree safety assessment at Aston Hill Bike Park, which has identified a large number of ash trees with Chalara ash dieback, we have made the decision to temporarily close the bike park until tree felling works have been completed to remove the worst affected trees.
