Newbridge Wood is the perfect place for a woodland stroll.

Chawton Park Wood sits just beyond the village of Chawton and within the South Downs National Park. Containing some mighty beach trees, ravishing Norway maples and more recently planted Whitebeam trees, the woods boast a beautiful setting for a peaceful walk along accessible paths. 

These picturesque woods are also the home to a hidden literary secret, for these were the woods in which Jane Austen took her regular strolls.

Located south of Tavistock, near Bere Alston, Denham Wood has a range of un-marked trails for you to explore making it the perfect place for a peaceful woodland walk.

The Wharncliffe Woods steep terrain creates a popular venue for both mountain biking and strenuous walking, without going to the Peak District!

The Woods have a rich post industrial history with many quarry workings hidden within the woods. Amongst the trees, numerous streams meander down the hillside.

 

Whitbarrow forest hills

Residing within the Lake District National Park, Whitbarrow Forest is situated on a limestone ridge overlooking the Lyth Valley approximately eight kilometres to the south-west of Kendal.

The wider Whitbarrow massif is a popular walking area; much of which is now designated open access land. The whole area is well-served with public footpaths, permissive paths and a wide range of other paths and tracks.

The entire 630 hectare site at Hardknott Forest is being restored to native habitats of oak and birch woodland, peatbogs, heather and grassland.

Walks through the forest offer great opportunities to observe wildlife, enjoy stunning scenery and see the results of the practical work being done by the Restoring Hardknott Forest project.

Overlooking Derwent Reservoir, Slaley Forest is home to a selection of forest roads which give you access to the forest.

Open all year, come rain or shine, the forest is a great location for a leisurely woodland walk or bike ride.

Harwood is a large conifer forest located to the south of Simonside Hills in Rothubury. Lying within the Northumberland National Park, it provides visitors with access to a network of public footpaths, ranging from popular open paths to quiet trails through the forest. 

Harwood is also one of the red squirrel reserves in the north of England, so keep your eyes peeled for this rare species!

Located to the east of Kielder Forest, Fourlaws is a popular site in the heart of the Ridsdale community.

The forest offers visitors great walking opportunities and some unique views over Chesterhope Common.

Formerly part of the Swarland Old Hall estate, Swarland Wood is popular with local residents for its open footpaths and forest roads.

Swarland provides the perfect setting for a peaceful walk or woodland horse ride with great access to the woodland to the south and east of Swarland Golf Course.

Located on the northern edge of the Lark Valley, West Stow Wood is a diverse woodland with belts of old pine and oak as well as newly planted and mature conifers.

Dale pond supports a variety of wildlife in the area, made special by its incredible diversity of dragonflies. It's also a summer watering hole for many birds!

Bacton woods

Located just east of North Walsham, Bacton Wood - also known as Witton Wood - is perfect for a day out with nature on foot or by bicycle.

Managed sustainably for people, wildlife and timber, there are over 30 species of tree in Bacton Wood, including Beech, Scots and Corsican Pine, Western Hemlock, Douglas Fir, Larch and veteran Sessile Oaks.

Located between Kendal and Lancaster, Dalton Crags is a large woodland occupying a south-west facing slope on the edge of the Hutton Roof massif.

The woodland is a mixture of limestone pavement, ancient woodland and newly planted beech & larch. It provides the opportunity to engage with nature and go on a peaceful forest walk!

Eggerslack

Eggerslack Woods is a delightful, tranquil place with native trees, an abundance of wildlife and a wide range of holly, ivy and ferns. Located south of Kendal, it is well-equipped with footpaths and is a natural gateway to spectacular views.

Eggerslack Wood is a popular location for walkers and is often visited as part of more extended walks over Hampsfell. Eggerslack is well placed to offer short walks from Grange-over-Sands or from the parking area on Hampsfell Road.

Rich in a range of tree species including Scots Pine, Red oak and Beech, Lord's Lot is a vibrant woodland located near Carnforth and north of Lancaster.

Popular with the local community and walkers, Lord's Lot is open all year, providing the perfect place for healthy outdoor activity.

 

Kew Woods

Located near Southport, Kew Woods is the perfect place to visit if you fancy a forest run or leisurely stroll.

Southport Birders have also discovered that Kew Woods is an ideal birding site, so don't forget your binoculars! 

Barn Owl

A number of paths link together areas of open grassland and young woodland across this hillside site.

The young trees provide incredible displays in autumn, and at dusk you may well see hunting barn owls.

Willingham Woods

Willingham Woods is part of a large complex of pinewoods that are located east of Market Rasen. It provides a diverse range of recreational opportunities as well as an important source of timber.

The woodland is visited all year round but is especially popular during the summer months, when holidaymakers use it as a break point whilst heading to and from the coast.

Located near Farnham and set above a large heathland clearing, Bourne Wood offers impressive views over the surrounding pine forests.

The sand soil provides a good walking surface, and the many public footpaths give great access to the woodland, where you can take in the beautiful natural scenery.

We are the tenant of Puddletown Forest, located near Dorchester. It's leased to us for the purpose of growing timber and public access to the area is restricted to public rights of way only.

People can walk or cycle along the public rights of way and rediscover the beauty of the conifer tree without having to abandon any love of the broadleaf, as here they exist harmoniously side by side, branches softly creaking in the wind together.
