You will receive a full refund including the booking fee for the tickets you have booked for these events.

Walking trails and routes

Starting from Dalby Visitor Centre climb briefly out of the Dalby Valley into the surrounding forest to see views over Dalby Dale. Walking back down into the dale you join the Ellerburn Trail walk or extend your walk to enjoy the wildlife hide at Ellerburn Pond.

We are sorry for the disappointment this will have caused. The heavy fog forecast for the weekend would impact the viewing as the courtyard is based in the valley.

Dalby Forest is an area of 3575.8 hectares of primarily coniferous forest with some broadleaves situated in the east of the North York Moors National Park which is collectively known as the North Riding Forest Park.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have been unable to recruit new volunteers to our teams. We now have a long enquiries list and have stopped adding to this list. Hopefully, we will be assigning volunteer enquiries soon, but it will take a little time to give everyone on the list the opportunity to start volunteering with one of our teams as they restart.

Situated on the southern slopes of the North York Moors National Park, Dalby Forest offers fantastic learning opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.

With venue hire, café and a variety of trails and activities available, Dalby Forest is wonderful setting for groups to get involved in a range of learning activities that combines hands-on education with ideas for active minds.

parkrun organise free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in.

These events take place in pleasant forest surroundings and people of every ability are encouraged to take part. From those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; everyone is welcome.

We are working with our friends at North York Moors National Park to reduce the chance of wild fires for the summer holiday.

To prevent forest fires and reduce waste, please do not bring any barbecues into our forests.

You can still enjoy a tasty treat in the forest at one of our beautiful picnic areas, just bring along good food and company!

In partnership with Active Future and inspired by the hit TV show Hunted, we're bringing this exhilarating experience to Yorkshire. 

Get ready, team. You're going on the run.

You have one simple objective: evade capture for the duration of the hunt and make it to the extraction point. There will be 10 tasks for you to complete and food drops to keep you energised throughout the day. 

Cycling trails at Dalby Forest

Dalby Forest provides the perfect venue for a range of events.  If you are interested in holding an event here you will need to apply first so that we can ensure your event doesn't clash with anything else happening in the forest such as forest operations work. 

Once we know your needs we can advise you to make sure your event is a success.  Please contact us no later than eight weeks before your proposed event.

This Christmas why not come to Dalby and explore the majesty of the forest as well as trying some learning activities during the festive holidays?

We have a variety of trails for young adventurers to explore with their family.

Forestry England have teamed up with Children's University where your child can enjoy the great outdoors and try new learning experiences.  If you would like more information about Children's University please follow the link.

British Cycling and Forestry England have teamed up to offer free, women-only group cycle rides for all abilities in the nation’s forests. 

Every group ride is led by a qualified Breeze into the Forest Champion who will organise everything and make sure everyone stays safe. Come along to ride, chat and of course enjoy some tea and cake from the onsite café afterwards.

Snap into the Christmas spirit and join Nice Work for their annual Christmas 5k & 10k at Salcey Forest! The routes are relatively flat and will take you around the picturesque areas of the forest. The event is open to runners of all abilities and any form of Christmas attire is welcomed!

Enjoy our stunning conference facilities in the heart of The Great Yorkshire Forest.

Dalby Forest has a conference facilities within the Visitor Centre. The room provides an excellent working and meeting space with ample natural daylight in a fantastic forest setting.

The room is ideal for team training sessions, conferences, client presentations and many other events and the room also has WIFI access.

Whether you've just bought your first pair of trainers, or have 1000's of miles under foot, Dalby Forest offers opportunity for all runners. Choose from a number of way marked running routes that range from 1km to 10km and explore this stunning forest.

If you venture into the deep dark wood you may bump into the Gruffalo and the Gruffalo's Child from Julia Donaldson's fantastic story.

Gruffalo orienteering forest courses

Try our fun, navigational challenge at Dalby Forest using a simple map to find twelve Gruffalo markers hidden in the deep, dark wood.

If you're feeling competitive, choose to run, walk (or skip!) the course against the clock.

Trail certificate and maps are available to purchase from the Visitor Centre during opening times and cost £1.50. You will need to drive to the trail start at the World Cup Car Park near Adderstone Field.

Our learning partner offers a range of environmental and educational experiences that make the most of this unique learning environment.

Dalby Activity Centre

Dalby Activity Centre provides action packed sessions allowing children to explore, discover and create with nature through activities, including shelter building and mini-beast hunting. Each session lasts two and a half hours and can be run as an independent half day activity or combined into a full day.

Our activity themed backpacks provide you with all you need to run your own successful educational visit in the forest.

Each activity bag contains equipment, games and resources for a class of up to 35 children and are most suitable for 4 - 11 year olds. There are enough activities for a half day session, so why not hire two bags to make your own full day programme.

Our Forest Venues are great for school visits, corporate events and birthday parties. The Visitor Centre venue has plenty of space available to host your event.
