North East England - all volunteering activities are suspended

Updated 18th September 2020

Due to the latest government announcement regarding tightened COVID-19 restrictions in North East England, volunteering is suspended in this area.

Volunteering across other Forestry England sites is restricted

Volunteering in the nation’s forests is returning through a phased restart where government restrictions allow and if there is sufficient site capacity to support safe management of volunteering, the public and our staff.

Existing Forestry England volunteers

If you are an existing volunteer with Forestry England, your volunteer supervisor will contact you when your volunteer role is suitable to restart to find out if you are ready to come back. They will carry out a few checks to support safe management of your role and explain some of the changes we have had to make to allow volunteering to restart. Remember, volunteering hasn’t restarted in all areas as some sites may not be ready yet or may be in local lockdown. We’ll be in touch soon.

New volunteers

We are currently not recruiting new volunteers but will be reviewing this over the next few months. If you're interested in volunteering with us please complete an online expression of interest form. Your details will be held securely and you will be contacted when a suitable volunteer opportunity comes up.

The expression of interest form can be found on the volunteer page of the forest you are interested in. Return to our volunteer page and use the search box at the bottom of the page to find your local forest.
