Balsam bashing at Waterdale

- Philips Park Barn, Prestwich, Manchester, M45 7QJ.
During Invasive Species Week and Forestry England will kick off the Himalayan Balsam campaign to tackle this invasive non-native species.
We will focus our effort on two sites within our community woodlands at Waterdale Meadow (Manchester area). These are the locations where we worked last year and where we can appreciate the results of our efforts. By carrying out the tasks annually in the same areas, we can maximise the eradication and control of this plant.
We have scheduled several dates in May and June. We might need to cancel some of these or add more dates, as we evaluate the impact of our tasks, attendance, and the flowering stage of the plant.
Please kindly book your attendance using the link below, so we can ensure we have enough equipment and refreshments for everyone. Note that you won’t receive a booking confirmation email. Instead, a couple of days before the event, you will receive an email containing all event details.
Please bring water and a packed lunch with you. We will provide tea, coffee, and biscuits. Wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy footwear. Long sleeves, a hat and sunscreen are recommended to protect you from sunlight and insects. Although we will do our best to arrange the welfare van, there might be a chance we cannot provide it, and there are no on-site facilities. Please plan accordingly.
