Species in the running...
The variety of trees we planted will create new wildlife habitats to increase biodiversity. They will provide food and shelter to a wide range of plants and animals.
Ongoing monitoring will increase our knowledge and inform future decisions on the sites biodiversity, improving the area for wildlife.
As the young trees (saplings) grow, they will be thinned to allow space to develop into a mature woodland.
A diverse mix of trees reduces the risk of pests and pathogens whilst also creating a woodland more resistant to wind, wildfire, drought and frost.
