A gentle sensory-filled wellbeing walk through the National Pinetum
Join us for a calming and uplifting sensory walk designed especially for people living with dementia and their loved ones.
What to expect
Led by experienced Forestry England volunteer walk leaders, this 60-minute guided walk takes you beneath the peaceful canopy of the National Pinetum. Along the way, pause at thoughtfully curated sensory stations created by the Dementia Experience team offering soothing hand massages, the uplifting sounds of live choral music, and other gentle activities to engage the senses and nurture wellbeing.

How long? 90 minutes.
How much? The event is free.
Parking? A discounted £4 vehicle admission charge applies to attendees, or free for Forestry England members.
Where to meet? Meet in the Education Room 5 to 10 minutes before the start of the walk.
Do I need to book? Booking is essential.
Dogs allowed? No (except assistance dogs)
What to wear? Please wear weather / season-appropriate clothing as the walk will be fully outside. Sturdy, closed-toed footwear is strongly recommended as walks do not always stay on paths.
Accessibility? The walk will take place mostly on hard-standing stone paths in the National Pinetum. Some elements of the walk will take participants off the main paths onto grassy and uneven surfaces.For more information about the suitability of the walk, please contact Dementia Experience.
