This summer, join us for an unforgettable journey through time and nature as we celebrate 100 years of the Wyre Forest – the country's largest woodland National Nature Reserve!
Pick up a passport and follow an exciting trail through partner sites and heritage locations. At each stop, collect a unique picture rubbing and discover fascinating stories about the forest and the people who shaped it.
Here’s where your adventure will take you over the course of your summer holiday at local venues:
- Wyre Forest: Explore the Arboretum to find the unusual Whitty Pear. Good look with collecting your other picture rubbings!
- Natural England: Find out how they care for one-third of the forest and keep it thriving for future generations.
- Bewdley Museum: Step back in time at Bewdley Museum and learn all about the Wyre Forest and its past! See traditional crafts being made, listen to old stories, try out fun hands-on activities, and explore exciting displays you can touch and feel. You can even find out what it was like to be locked up in the town jails!
- Wyre Community Land Trust (St. George’s Farm, Ruskin Land): Visit the Community Land Trust at St. George’s Farm in Ruskin Land, a beautiful part of the forest. See how they make charcoal the traditional way, cut wood at their sawmill, and look after a herd of friendly cows. You can also learn how they turn apples from the forest orchards into tasty apple juice that they sell on site!
- Severn Valley Highley Station Engine House: Come and find our display at the Severn Valley Railway Engine House! It’s full of fun facts about the old trainline that used to run through the middle of the Wyre Forest. You’ll also discover lots about the amazing steam trains that once chugged along the tracks. Get up close to some really big and special locomotives at the Engine House!
Return your completed passport to the Wyre Forest visitor centre to claim a free goody bag and enter our grand prize draw – including a year’s membership to Wyre Forest, tickets to go ape and a Severn Valley Railway family day pass!
