Many of us aspire to keep a regular sketchbook, journal or diary but it's deceptively hard to get started, let alone stick to. This workshop is an opportunity to put your inhibitions aside to start your sketchbook in a forest classroom. We will spend the day drawing and painting onsite, experimenting with materials, and creating a response to the inspiring space at Westonbirt.
Guidance and tuition on drawing and painting outside will be available for those who want it, while advanced students will have the opportunity to explore their own ideas. All will start their own sketchbook and come away with the confidence and inspiration needed to establish a lasting habit.
Morning:
Introduction to sketchbooking with watercolours
Walk around the Old Wood to collect things to draw
Painting your seasonal finds
Afternoon:
Onsite sketching in the grounds
Illustrating your day through simple landscape studies
Reportage and travel drawing.
What's included?
All Materials including your own sketchbook to take home.
Tea, coffee and cake!
What to bring?
Your own lunch (or you can make use of the fantastic cafe and restaurant on site)
Shoes and layers suitable for walking and drawing outside. Please note that our schedule may change depending on the weather. While showers won't put us off, in the event of torrential rain we will have access to the treetops classroom.
Who's it for?
Beginners to advanced students. This class is a good option for those who have previously taken part in a painting flowers day workshop and are looking to progress but it's equally suited to a beginner. I'm usually happy to accept students under 18, please get in touch before booking.
