A 1-day outdoor course covering the main fundamentals of owning, managing and working in a UK woodland to ensure it is healthy, sustainable and resilient. The course will have a focus on small broadleaved/mixed woodlands.
Course includes: i) tree identification; ii) the history and development of UK woodland; iii) woodland types; iv) woodland policy, legislation and grants; v) woodland threats; vi) woodland management planning and management options; vii) woodland products & services viii) the future of woodlands.
Suitable for small woodland owners and those looking to start a career in forestry who don’t know where to begin, or existing environmental/forestry professionals and woodland workers looking to boost their existing skills and knowledge.
Built open-sided shelter and compost loos available as a ‘base camp’ for the course. Includes certificate of attendance and additional reference material.
