Activity timetable for Guisborough Forest

Guisborough Forest offers a variety of activities as part of the Feel Good in the Forest project. They are free to take part in and include optional time at the end for refreshments and socialising. People can self-refer or be referred by a support organisation or worker.

Monday activities

Beginners running group 10am-11am

Dates: Thursday 17th September: Optional online session to meet Fran (your coach) and Lorna (Forestry England), find out about the structure of the sessions and ask any questions you may have.

Monday's 21st September, 28th September, 5th October, 12th October, 19th October, 2nd November, 9th November, 16th November and 23rd November

These sessions are designed for total beginners with the aim of being able to run for 30 mins at your own pace by the end of the 9-week course.

A typical session will include social time, a gentle warm up, exercises that will compliment your growing running fitness, and a running session which for the first 5 weeks will include alternating between running and walking. In week 1 you won’t be running longer than a minute at a time.

Next steps running group 11.30am -12.30pm 

These are progression sessions for those who have completed the beginners running course.

Tuesday activities

Standing Yoga 9.30am-10.30am. 

Beginning on 13th October join Lisa for a short mindful walk followed by Standing Yoga poses under the trees. Sessions must be booked in advance (booking link to follow).

Wednesday activities 

Take Your Time Walks 11am-12pm fortnightly on Wednesdays

Dates: 14th & 28th October , 11th & 25th November and 9th & 16th December

A gentle guided walk along our accessible to most trail with plenty of options for rest stops and a shorter distance. These walks are for those wanting to spend some time in nature at their own pace. Led by Forestry England staff and volunteers, they are dementia friendly, with mobility scooters, trampers and wheelchairs all welcome. The trail is 1.6km long with options to turn back and some social time with a cuppa afterwards.

Walking photography 10.30am-12.30pm

Dates: 11th September, 9th October, 13th November, 11th December 2026

Join Janette and Simon in the Forest and learn how to take better pictures with your camera or smart phone, connect with nature and enjoy a gentle stroll with others. Sunday activities

Tai Chi 11am-12pm

Dates: 6th September 2026 and 4th October 2026

Join a celebration of mindful movement and enjoy the ancient practice of Tai Chi in the forest. This session aims to introduce you to this gentle exercise to aid flexibility, strength and balance and will include some mindfulness and relaxation.
