Treat yourself and your four-legged friend to a forest visit and explore the woodlands on Blidworth's short dog loop.

This trail can be accessed from the Longdale Lane car park and is a waymarked trail specifically for dog walkers.

Please clear up any mess made by your dog and follow the Forest Dog Code.

This unsurfaced trail is a short loop for dog walkers starting in the car park.

With walking trails, cycling, outdoor play and picnic spots, West Walk is the ideal family day out. At 350 hectares, it is the largest remaining fragment of the ancient Forest of Bere. 

Set amongst the tall pine trees, our play area is great for keeping your children entertained. Including a balance beam and all-ability swing, swinging hoops, rotating climbing chimney and for the little ones, a giant sand pit and wooden playhouses.

A private, non-profit membership organisation who work closely with Forestry England to allow access to Forestry England land by sled dog teams.

Please contact Cannock Chase Sled Dog Group for further information and permits.

Whiteley Pastures has a range of gravel paths for you to explore the woods. Please stick to these tracks and act responsibly when you visit to help us protect the rare wildlife of the area. If you are walking your dog, please keep your dogs on the lead and read our forest dog code

Walking is the perfect way to get some fresh air and explore some of the area's most beautiful landscapes. Surfaced paths and bridges take you around the ponds, there are no waymarked trails but the wider forest can be accessed via forest paths.

Dogs are allowed in the Forest of Dean, however please obey the signs where you see them, they are for the safety of your dog and the local wildlife.

Cycling & mountain biking

This classic cross-country MTB trail was first launched in 2005. The trail surface is very variable: expect loose stone, roots and mud. There are a lot more climbs compared to Perry’s Trail, including one big incline.

Dog walkers are welcome in Cann Woods. Please be considerate of other forest visitors and always clear up after your dog. Check out our doggy guidance.

On this surfaced trail you will pass by young woodlands, a Treehouse Play Area and Henhurst Lake. Dogs must be kept on a lead in some parts.

Harling Woods has a range of public paths that are ideal for walking, jogging and dog walks.

Join our experienced and knowledgeable volunteers as they guide you through the Old Arboretum. Together you'll explore the best seasonal features of the Old Arboretum - and as the arboretum never stands still, no two walks are the same - perhaps you'll discover a hidden gem or your new favourite spot!

Walks occur daily at 11:00am & 2:00pm and are free after admission.

Explore the woodland on a range of grassy and gravel paths at Harcombe. Please keep to the tracks and keep dogs out of the undergrowth to help protect our ground nesting birds and other wildlife.

Walking at Hay Wood is the perfect way to get some fresh air and explore some of the area's most beautiful landscapes.

Hay Wood has a range of public paths that are ideal for walking, jogging and dog walks.

Please note: The trails in this forest are not waymarked so we recommend using an OS map.

Jeskyns is home to 360 acres of newly planted woodlands, meadows and orchards. With a good network of surfaced walking trails, children's play areas, café and even a dog activity trail, there is something for everyone to explore at any time of the year.

You can visit a Fairy and Elf Village, introduce the family to the Gruffalo and his friends, say hello to our cows, take the dog for a paddle or just sit and watch the world go by under wide skies full of singing skylarks.

Walking at Roughtor is the perfect way to get some fresh air and explore some of the area's most beautiful landscapes. Roughtor and the surrounding landscape are one of the best local places to see the mesmerising sight of a starling murmuration.

Roughtor is surrounded by wildlife and livestock. Please keep dogs close by and in sight at all times. Use a lead if they don't always come back when called.
