Nature journaling – immersed in nature

Join artist Debbie Kersley for a creative nature journaling workshop immersed among the trees.
These small group workshops take place at the Community Shelter, approximately 20 minutes’ walk from the Welcome Building. The sheltered outdoor space allows us to settle into the environment, observe closely and enjoy a slower pace of creative exploration, whilst learning practical ways to journal outdoors.
Nature journaling is the practice of observing and recording the natural world through drawing, writing and mindful attention. These workshops invite you to slow down, notice more deeply, and experience the arboretum from a different perspective.
By moving between the wider presence of trees in the landscape and the smaller details, nature journaling is a creative way of exploring and remembering the places we visit.
You don’t need to be ‘good’ at drawing to enjoy nature journaling — curiosity and noticing are much more important than artistic skill. Through simple, enjoyable step-by-step exercises and guidance, we will explore drawing as a way of seeing more closely. All levels of experience are very welcome.
Bring your own lunch to enjoy surrounded by woodland. Hot drinks and art materials are provided.
Each workshop explores different trees and seasonal moments in the arboretum. Discounts are available for booking more than one workshop, or booking together with friends.
