Our equestrian parking pass gives you convenient access to the designated equestrian-only parking facilities at three of Kent’s most beautiful riding destinations: Bedgebury Forest, Hemsted Forest, and King’s Wood.
With your pass, you’ll enjoy:

Important information:
- passes are valid until 30 April each year, when you’ll have the chance to renew for another year of riding adventures.
- gate codes change on 1 November 2025, and from that date onward, you’ll need a valid pass to enter.

- the sites on the maps linked below can be used for parking and unloading horses only. No other car parking is included in the pass.
- access codes must not be shared at any time.
- always lock barriers and scramble padlock code immediately after passing through and do not obstruct the access route.
- a speed limit of 10mph applies, give way to pedestrians and animals.
- drivers must have insurance cover for driving vehicles and any trailers off the public highway.
- access may be restricted to parts of the forest for safety reasons. Do not enter any restricted areas and follow any safety signage.
- horse riding is only permitted on the way-marked routes at Bedgebury and the gravel tracks at Hemsted Forest and King's Wood.
For your safety
- conditions can change rapidly, ensure you are prepared. You are responsible for your own safety.
- Forestry England recommend you carry a mobile phone and first aid kit, and let someone know your expected return time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is the Equestrian Parking Pass?
The pass costs £96 for 12 months. All passes expire on 30th April each year when you will need to purchase the next year's pass. If you buy the pass part-way through the year, the cost will be proportional to how much of the year is left.
I used to be a TROT member, can I still access without buying this pass?
Trot members will have been sent an email with further information.
Which sites can I access?
The Equestrian Parking Pass gives you access to the parking facilities at Bedgebury Pinetum, Hemsted Forest and King's Wood.
Where can I ride?
At Bedgebury you can ride on the bridleways and way marked routes. At Hemsted Forest and King's Wood you can ride on the bridleways and gravel tracks. Route maps for each can be found on their web pages.
Can I ride with a carriage?
No. Carriage riding is only able to be undertaken with specific permission, Please contact bedgebury@forestryengland.uk for more information on carriage riding.
Can I transfer my pass to another vehicle?
Vehicle registration numbers may be spot-checked. To change your vehicle log into your account or contact customerrelations@forestryengland.co.uk and quote equestrian parking pass.
Can I de-box in the regular car parks?
No. De-boxing should only be carried out in the equestrian-only areas linked to this pass.
When does the pass expire?
30 April 2026. You will be contacted by email nearer to this date to remind you to renew.
