Introduction to mantrailing course at Bedgebury Pinetum and Forest

Starting March 2026

Mantrailing is a fun and rewarding scent‑based sport where dogs use their incredible tracking abilities to find a missing person. Using a scent article, your dog follows the unique trail left behind by an individual—just as professional search and rescue dogs do.

It’s an adventure that taps into natural canine instincts and turns them into an enjoyable, confidence‑building activity for both of you.

What to expect

Over the 4 week course you and your dog will learn to trail across a variety of environments, including open fields, woodland trails, tarmac paths, and more urban-style areas, all within one comprehensive programme.

Throughout the course, we introduce different surfaces and scent challenges to help your dog understand how scent behaves in changing conditions. This builds confidence, develops problem‑solving skills, and teaches your dog how to interpret scent and work through real‑world distractions.
