Among The Pines Backyard Ultra

Among The Pines Backyard Ultra takes place in the heart of Gisburn Forest, surrounded by towering conifers, flowing forest trails, and the stunning scenery of the Forest of Bowland. With the start, finish, and race base located at Stephen Park Group Accommodation beside the main Gisburn Forest car park, runners will experience a true backyard ultra atmosphere deep within one of the North West’s most iconic trail-running locations.

Runners will complete a fully off road loop through forest tracks and flowing trail sections, starting a new lap every hour on the hour. Finish the lap within the hour, and you earn the right to go again. The race continues until only one runner remains.

Among The Pines is designed to be as much about personal challenge as competition. Whether you’re aiming to complete your first backyard lap, push beyond your longest distance, or battle through the darkness chasing sunrise beneath the trees, every runner will find their own race within the forest.

With a limited field size, the event creates a supportive yet competitive atmosphere where runners, crews, and spectators come together to share the highs and lows of backyard ultra racing.

Prize money will be awarded to the overall winner and assist with an additional prize for any runner pushing beyond the 100 mile mark.
