Our Forest School Programme for home-educated children is the perfect opportunity for primary aged children to interact with other children and form friendships, whilst participating in a range of engaging activities that develop essential life skills. Children will benefit from improved confidence, self-esteem, teamwork, communication skills, gross & fine motor skills, problem solving skills, and some academic concepts (such as shape & measure).
These sessions are aimed at children that are home-educated from 4-13 years old, whose parents want to provide them with regular access to an alternative form of education.
Sessions are 3 hours and include a hot chocolate and snack usually prepared by the children themselves. The sessions are generally child-led, but a range of activities will be offered over the course of the programme, including:
- Fire lighting, maintenance and safety
- Cooking skills
- Team activities, such as building dens, bridges or tree-houses
- Tool use and tool safety
- Arts, crafts and activities using natural resources
- Basic knots and lashings, and their uses
- Tree climbing and building obstacle courses
