Warksburn walking trail at Kielder Forest

Trail currently closed due to storm damage

Warksburn Walking Trail

Warksburn picnic area is situated on the banks of its namesake (which is reputed to contain gold deposits!) Two waymarked forest walks start and finish at the picnic area. Points of interest around the walks include the Black Dyke, a pre-Roman earthwork and a profusion of water/wetland/forest plants and flowers.

The walking trail heads up the bank close to the picnic area. After walking along the burn and circling through the forest, the trail runs close to Black Dyke and through a recently planted area passing a wind swept old Scots Pine shelter belt before returning to the car park
