Archer's Stroll at Sherwood Pines
Archer's Stroll - a family-friendly forest walk
Archer’s Stroll is a gentle, all-weather trail perfect for families, pushchairs, and wheelchairs. Starting just past the front of the café overlooking the arena, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a picnic or catch one of the exciting events that often take place there. Don’t miss the stunning cherry tree in the bottom corner of the arena – a seasonal highlight that’s worth a photo in every season. As you set off, the first stretch of the walk passes close by our trench re-creation and a short detour offers a glimpse into the history of the site as a World War I training camp.
The trail winds through glades and alongside the disc golf course before leading you into a landscape rich with broadleaf trees as well as the coniferous trees that give us our name, filling the air with the scent of pine. Along the way, you’ll find seating areas and a picnic bench near the tranquil Dragonfly Pond – an ideal spot for a little forest-bathing. Archer’s Stroll also passes the Childhood Wood Memorial Garden, a peaceful space for reflection where oak trees stand in memory of children lost to MPS.
As you loop back toward the visitor centre, the route winds through areas that feel deeply immersed in the forest. As you approach the end of the trail you’ll pass by the play areas. The walk concludes back at the café, to combine nature, mindful moments, history, and family fun.
