Terms and Conditions of Silk Wood play naming competition
Entries open on 9am, 1 July 2026.
Entries close at 11.59pm on 24 July 2026.
Only entries made on the designated online competition entry form will be counted.
Entries are made by submitting your suggested name for the play area, via the designated online competition form. Names suggested must be appropriate and not include any content which can be deemed racist, contain hate, or are overly offensive. Repeat offenders may be blocked from the page and banned from entering this and future competitions.
Once entries have closed on 24 July 2026, a shortlist of minimum three and maximum five of the best names will be picked for the Silk Wood play area, by a panel made up of representatives of Forestry England Westonbirt The National Arboretum and The Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum (The Friends).
These shortlisted names will be listed for a vote by members of the public to select the final names. The vote will open after 9am on 7 August 2026 and will close at 11.59pm on 21 August 2026.
The winner will be the suggestor of the play area name with the most votes and will be notified by email no later than 28 August 2026.
In the event of a tie for votes, Forestry England will select the winner. Their decision is final.
If the same name is suggested by two competitors, and shortlisted for voting, both nominees will be thanked.
Runners up will be classed as those whose entries made the selected shortlist for voting and will be notified by email no later than 28 August 2026.
Entries are unlimited and individuals can enter as many times as they like. One entry per name submitted.
The entrant assigns all rights to the name to Forestry England.
Data Protection: The personal data you supply will only be kept by Forestry England until 12 months after the competition ends.
Eligibility: Open to all UK residents. If you are an entrant under the age of 18, you are to confirm on the entry form that you have obtained the consent of your parent or legal guardian to enter this competition, and that they agree to be bound by the terms and conditions on your behalf.
