Over the autumn and winter, we're piloting a new inclusive volunteering programme to make forest volunteering more welcoming and accessible, and to help people build confidence in local Forestry England woodlands.
We're looking for individuals, community groups and organisations to help us shape and test a series of volunteering taster sessions. We'll co-design the programme with participants, taking into account different interests, needs and confidence levels.
Activities will include woodland maintenance, trail work, surveying and monitoring, and welcome and engagement roles, alongside other ideas suggested by those taking part.
The programme is aimed at people who may face barriers to volunteering, including physical disabilities, neurodivergence, different learning needs, visual or hearing impairments, language and cultural barriers, or social isolation.
Taking part could mean learning new skills, meeting new people, improving your wellbeing and feeling more confident using your local green spaces.
The University of York will also be carrying out optional research to help make volunteering more inclusive in the future.
