Shadow Volunteer scheme 

Individuals thinking about a career in forestry may be interested in our Shadow Volunteer scheme.   

Taking place in the nation’s forests across England, Shadow Volunteers are given training, experience and development opportunities by work shadowing Forestry England staff. The scheme runs for six months, one to three days a week.

Site Maintenance

Friends of Dalby Forest 

The Friends of Dalby Forest are a small, friendly group who meet regularly in Dalby Forest to undertake a variety of tasks to support the Forest. These are often practical jobs such as removing regeneration from scheduled ancient monuments, enhancing play areas, trail maintenance, habitat restoration and just about everything in between.

Dalby Bike Trail Maintenance 

If you’re into your mountain biking, then why not join this motivated group who get together monthly to make sure the trails are in great condition for riders. The group carry out a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the trails are safe and fun. From resurfacing, restructuring and re-berming, to removing vegetation from trail edges and overhead, this group do it all.

Memorial Benches Project Volunteer

We are looking for a volunteer to support us with the delivery of a project focusing on memorial benches within Yorkshire Forest District. If you’ve got an interest in project management and enjoy being out and about in the Forest, this could be the role for you. We are looking for help roughly once a week to support the delivery of the project. See the attached job role for more details.

Arts Visitor Feedback

Are you fascinated by the arts and looking to support us to improve our exhibitions and sculptures? This role will involve engaging with our visitors to understand their experiences of our arts programme and capturing this feedback for us to make improvements to our offer. We are looking for individuals who thrive on working on a busy, visitor focused site and are confident in approaching visitors in natural conversation.

Arts Outdoor Artwork Inspection

We are looking for caring individuals who have an interest in the arts to support us in looking after our range of sculptures and installations throughout the forest. With a keen eye for detail the role will involve checking these artworks for damage, maintaining the surrounding area for litter and vegetation and reporting any issues back to the Arts Coordinator.
