Wildlife hide at Fineshade Wood

Wildlife hide at Fineshade Wood

Take a short detour from the Dales Wood trail and you will stumble across a secluded haven for wildlife enthusiasts.

Fineshade Wood is home to birds such as coal tit, chiffchaffs, blackcaps, song thrushes and jays, and for many different species of butterfly, including the Chequered Skipper.   Look up to the sky to see the Red Kites, reintroduced to the area by Forestry England wildlife teams a couple of decades ago, and you may also see the greater spotted woodpecker in the nearby trees.
