Walking at Footland Wood

Explore Footland Wood on foot

Footland Wood offers an easy and enjoyable way to experience one of Sussex’s most characterful woodland landscapes.

Without designated walking trails, the woods are criss-crossed by a network of forest roads, creating a variety of options for those looking to explore on foot. The forest roads themselves provide a clear and inviting passage, ranging from well-gravelled stretches to simpler, un-surfaced tracks.Visitors have the freedom to wander without following a fixed path, enjoying the calm atmosphere and exploration that feels closer to the natural forest floor.

There are no steep climbs to contend with, and the paths are generally suitable for families with older children and confident dog walkers. For those who like to extend their day, the surrounding High Weald countryside offers further walking opportunities via local public rights of way.
