Children's play area - adventurous facilities for all the family
PLEASE NOTE: There is currently no access to the Wild Play area of High Lodge as it is undergoing work on surrounding pathways. This includes closures of the Pyramid Towers and the swings. The Sand Play area will remain open.
High Lodge is famous for its free adventurous play facilities which are great for kids of any age looking for an adventure in the forest! Here's what you can find at High Lodge:
- Activity trails - Pick up a Gruffalo orienteering pack at our Information Point and practice map reading skills and meet the Gruffalo and friends when exploring the Gruffalo Orienteering Trail.
- Sand Play - updated for 2025, our Sand Play area features inclusive and sensory elements, as part of our ongoing journey in making High Lodge more welcoming to everyone.
- Pedal and Play - new for 2025, Pedal and Play brings together a play area with inclusive and sensory element, along with cycle loops designed to build skills and confidence in young cyclists.
- Wild Play - our famous Pyramid Tower, zipline, and giant see-saw are great places for families to play and make memories together.
- Sound Trail - follow a sensory and gentle walk through the woods and make music amongst the trees.
There is loads to enjoy at High Lodge for all ages! Only your imagination will be the limit to the fun you can have out in the woods - even on a rainy day when the only thing to do is get muddy splashing in puddles!

It is a short walk from the car park to the start of our play facilities at High Lodge, which are close to the café and toilets.

Our play facilities are located throughout the forest. The routes are largely flat, and the surfaces will vary from gravel surfaces tracks to natural forest paths.
