Beechenhurst is a great place to enjoy a walk in the Forest of Dean, whether you want a gentle family stroll, or you're looking to tire out the dog. 

Choose a walking trail for you

Explore the forest on our waymarked trails, smaller paths or forest roads.

Take the Ramblers Beechenhurst trail for a challenging walk, venture beyond Beechenhurst on the Speech House Link trail or discover a unique range of artwork along the Sculpture trail. 

A trail map can be purchased for £2 from Beechenhurst cafe or the information point. This includes trail maps for Mallards Pike and Symonds Yat Rock.

Dog walking at Beechenhurst

Dogs are welcome to explore Beechenhurst and the Forest of Dean. There are plenty of sights, sounds, and sniffs to tire them out. Drinking water is available next to the visitor toilets.

Please be aware that the Forest of Dean is home to very special wildlife. Please keep dogs close by and in sight at all times to make sure they stay on official trails. Read our tips for bringing your dog to the forest.

Accessible walking

The Glade trail is an all-ability access route, suitable for most wheelchairs and pushchairs. It also has plenty of benches and rest stops along the way.

Mobility hire

We have an all-terrain mobility scooter available to hire through the Countryside Mobility Scheme. Our scooter is available to anyone aged 14+ with limited mobility. You do not have to be registered disabled. Contact us for more information and booking.
