Join the Forest of Dean Dementia Action Alliance (FODDAA) for their Dementia Awareness Day – an awareness, information and fun day at Beechenhurst, suitable for all age groups.
The day will include:
- guided walks by Wilde Earth Journeys
- indoor virtual walks
- circus skills by Artspace
- information stands from their members/partners
- merchandise kindly donated by local crafters to raise awareness of dementia.
FODDAA are also inviting visitors to help to create a memory wall installation. Add a photo of someone you know who had or has dementia in celebration of them, or you could add a memory to a large format forget-me-not flower (please note that photos cannot be returned).
The event will be opened at 10:30am by Dr Jennifer Bute, a former GP who retired due to early onset Alzheimer's and now campaigns for people with dementia.
Adaptive cycling
Our friends Goals Beyond Grass will be at the Dementia Awareness Day with a range of adaptive cycles for visitors to try.
Memory walks
Maps will be provided on the day for self-guided routes, or you can book to join a guided mindful walk with Wilde Earth Journeys. There will be four guided walks throughout the day:
- 10:45am and 1:45pm – longer walks along undulating forest tracks with gentle a climb (1.7 miles)
- 11:15am and 2:30pm – short walks along the accessible Glade Trail (0.6 miles)
An all-terrain mobility scooter will be available on the day, but must be booked in advance.
