Our Window on Westonbirt volunteers have explored the arboretum this week to let you know what's looking its best. Keep an eye out for the following seasonal highlights - they're not to be missed! You can also use our Arboretum Explorer to discover more tree locations around the arboretum.
Hydrangea 'Savill Lace'
The hydrangeas are putting on a show of colour at the moment and an eye-catcher in the Old Arboretum on Main Drive, at the bottom of Savill Glade, is the appropriately named Hydrangea 'Savill Lace', a striking plant with generous panicles of lacey white flowers.
Harlequin gloryblower
Worth looking for at the top of Morley Ride in the Old Arboretum, and also just off the Treetop Walkway along Willesley Drive in Silk Wood, is the Harlequin gloryblower (Clerodendron trichotomum) with its star-like clusters of scented white flowers with maroon calyces.
Japanese hornbeam
Nearby on Willesley Drive is a Japanese hornbeam (Carpinus japonica). It has distinctive ridged pointed leaves and is currently adorned with hop-like fruit clusters.
