Our Window on Westonbirt volunteers have explored the arboretum this week to let you know what's looking its best. Keep an eye out for the following seasonal highlights - they're not to be missed! You can also use our Arboretum Explorer to discover more tree locations around the arboretum.
Eucryphia
Top of our choices this week has to be the large and beautiful Eucryphia on Sir Georges Walk (Eucryphia x nymansensis 'Nymansay'). Though a bit crowded by its neighbours this tree has managed to produce masses of large, open white flowers which are loved by bees and butterflies.
Button bush
Less flamboyant but also popular with insects is the Button bush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) flower. A group of young shrubs beneath the Treetop Walkway are developing a covering of these small, white, flowers shaped like pom poms.
Sorbus esserteauiana 'Flava'
Two early Mountain ash trees near to the Welcome Building are promising a fruitful autumn with their bright yellow and orange berries (Sorbus esserteauiana 'Flava').
