Our Window on Westonbirt volunteers have explored the arboretum this week to let you know what's looking its best. Keep an eye out for the following seasonal highlights - they're not to be missed! You can also use our Arboretum Explorer to discover more tree locations around the arboretum.
Larch
Highlights of the Arboretum this week are the larches (Larix x marschlinsii). These tall, elegant conifers are deciduous and their needles turn a striking golden yellow before falling to the ground. They can be seen across the site but the groups in Maple Loop in Silk Wood are particularly stunning.
Acer palmatum
There are still autumn tints from maples, again Maple Loop is a good place to find them. But one of our last showy specimens is the Japanese maple (Acer palmatum) which is in colour now off Mitchell Drive in the Old Arboretum.

Henry's finger aralia
There are still plenty of berries around, such as the large blackberry-like fruits of Henry's finger aralia (Eleutherococcus henryi) on Morley Ride in the Old Arboretum.
