Set against the beautiful backdrop of Westonbirt Arboretum, this specialist festive workshop offers an introduction to the centuries-old craft of traditional gilding.
Led by professional gilder, conservator and decorative artist Jade Maloney, you will learn how to use specialist gilding tools and materials to apply and work with traditional oil-based gilding size, handle and apply genuine loose 24ct gold leaf and skew your gilded surface.
During the course, Jade will introduce you to the history and traditions of gilding, from its use within historic interiors and decorative arts to its place in contemporary design today.
Once gilded, you will personalise your piece with a choice of velvet hanging ribbon before preparing its velvet lined presentation box with a traditional wax seal. Your completed ornament will leave the workshop beautifully presented as a truly unique hand crafted gift for a loved one, or to become a very special addition to your own Christmas decoration collection to be hung year after year.
