Join us at a public engagement event to learn more about our proposed scheme for the future of Cannop Ponds.

The future of Cannop Ponds

We are working to keep Cannop Ponds safe for future generations.

Cannop Ponds are two reservoirs within the Forest of Dean. The reservoirs were created in the 1820s through the construction of two dams across Cannop Brook. Both dams have had a long history of repairs to stop leaks and fill holes to prevent failure. The dams don’t meet modern requirements and so we are legally required to address the problems to ensure future safety.

The more we looked at what we would have to do to fix the issues, the more we saw opportunities to improve the whole site for the future. A different approach is being taken at Upper and Lower Cannop, to reflect the opportunities that each Pond presents. The two will work together to reduce the risk of future flood events and create lasting benefits for local people, visitors and wildlife.

Sessions

These informal one-hour engagement sessions are an opportunity for you to see the latest plans and illustrations, meet members of the project team, speak to the experts and find out more about the proposal. You'll also be able to share your feedback through a survey, helping us refine the final details before we submit a planning application next year.

You can book a place on one of the following sessions:

  • 2pm to 3pm
  • 3:30pm to 4:30pm
  • 5pm to 6pm
  • 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Booking your place

Event sessions are free to attend, but places are limited to 125 people per session due to room capacity. To help as many people as possible attend, bookings are limited to a maximum of five tickets per person.

Please note that only ticket holders will be admitted on the day. You can either print your ticket or show it on your phone when you arrive.

If you can’t attend in person

If you're unable to join us at one of the public sessions, you'll still be able to take part online through our virtual event space.

The virtual event space contains the same information that will be available at the in-person sessions, including the proposed plans and illustrations. You'll also be able to complete the same feedback survey, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to share their views and help us secure the future of Cannop Ponds.

The virtual event space will be live from Thursday 24 September to Wednesday 22 October.
