Essentials

Toilets

We have one accessible toilet (with baby change) at Hicks Lodge. It is located next to the cafe. It has a wide door that is not power assisted and a key is not needed for access.

There are an additional three ladies cubicles, one male cubicle plus two urinals. Alongside being available in the accessible toilet, there is one additional baby change room.

Changing Places

There is no Changing Places facility at Hicks Lodge.

Needing help

Our friendly staff are first aid trained and can be located in the cafe.

Arriving at the forest

Hicks Lodge has one car park. It is not easily accessible via public transport.

Car parking

We have five accessible parking bays at Hicks Lodge.

The car park is not free and an ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) system is in place. Payment can be made via card-only machines in the car park or via mobile app RingGo.

The visitor centre

There is a cafe and toilets located approximately 50m from the car park along a surfaced pathway with slight gradient. Doors to the cafe are wide enough for wheelchair access but are not power assisted.

Seating is available in the cafe.

There is no hearing loop available and music is not played.

Getting out in the forest

All-terrain mobility scooter hire is not available at Hicks Lodge. 

The Hicks Lodge and Family Forest trails are both suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs. Both trails can be accessed from the track in front of the cafe.

Seating and shelter

Benches are available across the site.

Apart from the cafe there is sheltered seating in the bird hide.
