By Car

From Cockermouth: Leave the town via Castlegate Drive passed the hospital and secondary school. Take the first turn left after the school and follow signs to the golf course and Higham. After about 1.5 miles you will find the main entrance to the forest.  There are several parking areas further along the road with access to the forest.

From the A66 East: Turn right at Dubwath A66 Junction and follow signs for The Lakes Distillery, then Higham Hall and then Setmurthy. Climb up the hill past the entrance to Highham Hall and onto the ridge. After about 1 ½ miles you will pass several parking laybys with access into Setmurthy.

Parking and prices

Setmurthy offers on road parking near to the entrance. Please park considerately. 

When parking in the laybys look out for vehicles travelling fast along the public road past the parking areas.

There are no parking charges at Setmurthy.
