What can I do?

Practical volunteer

We have two active volunteering groups covering our Nottinghamshire community woodlands. They meet weekly on a Wednesday (Ollerton Pit Wood, Boughton Brake, Whitwell Wood and surrounding woodlands) and a Thursday (Shirebrook Wood, Pleasley Park, Boundary Wood, Oxclose Wood and Silverhill Wood and surrounding woodlands). The group also meet once a month on a Sunday, to find out more please contact Brian.

Tasks undertaken are a mixture of conservation project work and site management including clearing vegetation, removing old tree tubes, coppicing and much more.

No experience is needed. All tools, training and coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided.

Shadow rangers - voluntary scheme

We are looking for individuals with an interest in pursuing a career in countryside management for our voluntary scheme. Successful applicants will be given training and development opportunities by work shadowing current countryside management staff. This is a six month scheme that runs twice a year.
