Walking trails at Symonds Yat Rock

Explore Symonds Yat Rock and the surrounding woodlands

Symonds Yat Rock lies in one of the most beautiful parts of the Forest of Dean, overlooking the River Wye. There are many walking trails to explore - whether you're looking for a gentle stroll or a more challenging hike.

Choose a walking trail for you

From Symonds Yat Rock there are a range of signposted walking trails taking you all over the forest. Make sure you visit at different times of year - enjoy the autumn colours or the spring flowers, no two visits will be the same.

Just a short walk from the car park you will find the spectacular view point. Bring your binoculars to spot birds of prey nesting in the rocks.

Head south to go deeper into the woods towards the Forest Holidays or Bracelands campsite, or head downhill to the River Wye and village of Symonds Yat East (beware: its uphill on the way back!).

Make sure you refuel at Symonds Yat Rock Cafe.

Download a map of our walking trails before you visit.
