Walking at Haldon Forest Park

Walking in a winter wonderland

Whether you’re looking for play and adventure or a bit of peace and quiet this winter, Haldon Forest Park has the perfect walking trail for you. Choose from an easygoing stroll along the top of the Haldon ridge with expansive countryside views, or take a more challenging hike deeper into the forest. All our walks are clearly waymarked, so you can relax and enjoy the scenery.

Accessible walking

Our walking trails cover varied terrain.

  • The Discovery trail is wide, surfaced, and mostly level. The Discovery trail is suitable for some manual wheelchairs.
  • The Raptor trail is mostly surfaced with some steep slopes. The Raptor trail is suitable for some mobility scooters.
  • The Butterfly trail includes some uneven, unsurfaced sections and steep slopes. The Butterfly trail is suitable for off-road mobility scooters.

Our network of surfaced forest roads includes some steep slopes and is suitable for most mobility scooters.

All walking trails include two road crossings with wooden chicanes that are wide enough for mobility scooters.

Mobility hire

We have three all-terrain mobility scooters available to hire through the Countryside Mobility Scheme. Our scooters are available to anyone aged 14+ with limited mobility. You do not have to be registered disabled to hire a scooter. Contact us for more information and booking.
