Opening hours

Our car park is open from 8am - 5pm in  January. 

Opening times are seasonal, please see below:

Take the A325 from Farnham to Bucks Horn Oak and follow signs to Alice Holt.

We welcome car-free visitors and offer free admission to those arriving by public transport or bike – plan your journey at Good Journey.

Take the number 18 bus (between Aldershot and Haslemere) and get off at the stop after the petrol station in Bucks Horn Oak.

The cafe is open for take away food and drink only. 

We are a cashless site (with the exception of the cafe where you can use cash). Please ensure you can pay for parking and other purchases by card.

Welcome to Alice Holt Forest

Alice Holt has something for everyone, whether you are looking for an exciting treetop adventure or a tranquil journey through the trees looking out for our wildlife, we know you will love your visit. We have lots of different trails and play areas for you to discover, as well as our Gruffalo sculpture.

Know before you go!

  • Please keep highways and gateways clear and leave plenty of room for other road users to pass safely. If the car park is full or too busy please be prepared to turn around and come another day.
  • Please follow the latest government coronavirus guidelines and advice when visiting.
  • Be kind and patient to our staff, volunteers and onsite business partners. They are working hard to help you to get the best out of your visit.
  • The safety of our staff, volunteers, partners and visitors remains our priority. We take the necessary steps to ensure everyone is safe when visiting or working in our forests, which may include reviewing Covid-19 safety measures if we feel the need to do so
  • Bring your own face covering and hand sanitiser.
  • We urge people to leave nothing behind that could harm the beauty of the forest, please take your litter home and dispose of it there, not forgetting to recycle what you can of course!
  • Barbecues are not permitted in any part of our forest.
  • We only accept card and contactless payments apart from the cafe where you can also pay by cash.

Alice Holt offers a fantastic opportunity for natural cycling. Check out our two cycling trails and enjoy the fantastic scenery by bike, you will see ancient mighty oaks as well as wildflower rich open spaces during your cycle. 

Our cycle trails are open for you to enjoy with your own bikes. Please follow us on social media for all the latest information and updates.

Cycle hire is currently unavailable.

From gentle group walks to cardio training, discover a wide range of instructor led fitness and wellbeing classes at Alice Holt. 

Enjoy a tasty treat in the forest at one of our beautiful barbecue stands, just bring along good food and company!

Alice Holt has three barbecue hearths available for you to book. Our barbecues are suitable for up to 30 people and comes with its own picnic table. There’s also space for you to bring your own gazebo, up to 3x3m in size. Disposable and portable barbecues are not allowed.

Don't forget to bring your own charcoal and tools!

Explore our many waymarked trails or smaller paths that criss-cross Alice Holt Forest. The woods are ideal for just about everyone to enjoy some exercise, from a gentle family walk to a good long invigorating stroll.
