Open every day except Christmas Day.  The site opens at 8.00 every day and the closing times are as follows:

November to February - 5:00pm

March - 6:30pm

April - 8:00pm

May to August - 9:00pm

September - 7:30pm

October - 6:30pm

Parking and prices

Parking charges apply at Cannop Cycle Centre.

You can now use RingGo at Cannop Cycle Centre which allows you to pay for parking online or via an app. Please download the Ringo App before travelling if you can.

Pay for parking on your phone in 5 easy steps:

1. Open the RingGo app, or download for free if you haven’t already got it, using the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
2. Log in with your RingGo details, or register as a new user.
3. Select your location by entering the 3–6 digit number shown on the parking signs.
4. Enter your number plate and choose how long you’d like to park for. Remember, you can extend this later.
5. Choose to add any handy parking reminders you need, then just tap to pay.

And you’re good to go! Your details are saved so next time, you can park even faster.

If you’re not a smartphone user, you can still use RingGo to pay for your parking by calling 0203 046 0063. You can also register and book parking with RingGo online.

Facilities and access

Visiting Cannop Cycle Centre updated 6 January 2021

Cannop Cycle Centre is open for local exercise.   We welcome local, responsible mountain bikers at our waymarked cycle trails and on hard stone forest roads, this is not a time for challenging yourself. It is important to avoid injury and reduce the pressure on our staff and the emergency services.

Please come fully prepared and be self-sufficient for your visit:

  • Make sure your bike is in full working order
  • Make sure you have a backpack which contains: First aid kit, water, snacks, spare inner tube, pump, small repair kit, map, fully charged mobile phone.
  • First Aid will not be available on site, make sure you ride within your limits, WEAR YOUR HELMET, if you do have an accident make your way back to your vehicle if you are able. Only call 999 if it is essential.
  • Please respect others using the Forest - make sure you avoid crowds and maintain social distancing. The 2m rule applies to cyclists too.

When you  visit the nation’s forests, remember it is your responsibility to follow the new guidance on  staying safe outside your home. We are cleaning our car parking machines throughout the day but for your own safety please bring hand sanitiser with you to use after touching the machines.  

If you are uncomfortable with the idea of touching the car park payment machines, you may want to consider becoming a member. As well as supporting the forest you will receive a 12 month car park pass. Find out more.

This centre, on the site of an old colliery, is the ideal place to start your cycling adventure

Cannop Cycle Centre has something for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Try the Family Cycle Trail or test yourself on the singletrack trails and demanding downhill runs.  

Bikes can be hired (or repaired) at Pedalabikeaway (booking advised). You can also enjoy the cafe and shop after your ride.  

Fly Up Downhill operate a bookable uplift service for the downhill runs.
